Principal's Message

Welcome to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary

At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we endeavour to provide a welcoming environment that respects the dignity of each person, promotes personal responsibility, and nurtures an inner spirit of delight in life and learning.

The school’s mission is to show compassion, dignity and justice as reflected in the Mercy and Carmelite traditions. We aim to provide quality Catholic education in a Christ-centred community, in collaboration with the Carmelite parish, parents and staff. We value our partnership with parents as their child’s first educators, and our relationship with the Carmelite pastors, in promoting the religious dimension of our school.

Our staff is committed to fostering thoughtful, resourceful, happy and faith-centred students who will be able to contribute to their community. The learning and teaching is differentiated to meet individual needs through a whole-school focus on the skills of cooperative and reflective learning.

The Sisters of Mercy founded the school in 1920, and the Mercy leadership remained in the school until 2004 with the retirement of Sr Margaret Harrison RSM. Steven Jones was appointed as the second lay Principal in 2012. I was appointed as the Principal in 2019 and continue to support the Mercy tradition.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend to you a warm welcome and I encourage you to use this website to gain an insight into our school and community.
