OLMC School Fete
OLMC School Fete Showbags

The OLMC Fete 2019 was a resounding success.

For hours on the afternoon of Friday 22 March, the school was alive and buzzing to the sounds of community. Excitement filled the air as the community were transformed from the OLMC school grounds to carnival splendour.

From rides, to show bags, to baskets and cakes, it had everything! The entertainment didn’t end there, with the Dunk Tank, Chocolate Wheel and countless carnival games providing additional amusement. Captivating stalls immersed guests, while the delicious cultural delicacies ensured no one went home hungry.

Events like this don’t happen overnight. A special thanks to the Fete Committee, the P & F and the countless volunteers who supported the fete and attended numerous meetings and gave up their time on the day.

Thank you also to the parent community for supporting numerous mufti days. Without your support, OLMC would not have been able to include the variety of stalls and entertainment that was present.

Most of all, however, thank you everyone who came along on the day and enjoyed some time with family, friends and acquaintances to celebrate what we share in common- being a part of a great school and a great community.

During Religion lessons, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 learned about the Carmel Impact Water Project. They explored the importance of supporting the Carmelite communities of Raimea and Zumalai in Timor-Leste by helping to restore water tanks and pipes to provide clean and safe water for daily use. On Wednesday, students filled buckets and cups with water and took part in the Walk for Water Challenge. This fun yet powerful experience reminded us that our brothers and sisters in Timor-Leste must travel on foot every day just to access a basic necessity — fresh, clean water — something we often take for granted in our homes and at school. On Friday, students came dressed in Something Blue — a colour symbolising our prayers for hope and change for the people of Timor-Leste. These are the moments when we are truly called to be the hearts and hands of Christ, showing love, compassion, and generosity to others. The week concluded with a Mission Liturgy, led by our energetic Spirit Squad. Students participated reverently, and we thank each and every one of them for their thoughtful engagement and their love for others throughout the week.
