What a lovely way to start off the school year with parents, teachers and children coming together for the annual OLMC Welcome Picnic on Friday 15th February
It was a pleasure to spend time with families and have the chance to catch up for a chat over a delicious meal.

As part of Year 5’s Reward Day last week, they decided to help those less fortunate than themselves. They spent the morning making over 60 sandwiches and 60 pieces of lemon slice, which will feed people in Parramatta tonight as part of the Jeremiah Project.![763565872230263_1309639967622848-1]()

This term, in Religion, Year 6 have been learning about the relationship of prayer and their life. They have participated in numerous various prayer experiences throughout the term such as Visio Divina, Dadirri, Lectio Divina, Adoration, and the Examen Prayer. Students have expressed that one of their favourite experiences was the Dadirri, an ancient Aboriginal cultural practice of deep, quiet, inner listening and stillness. This meditation allowed students to appreciate God's creation and life and to have a moment of peace and serenity.

Year 6 have been learning about prayer this term. They have been especially learning about contemplation on action and action on contemplation. The Year 6 students had an encounter with the Franciscan Friars to learn about how both St Francis and Jesus prayed and served others. The Year 6 students then spent time to contemplate and to put their faith in action by packing breakfast packs for the homeless. A massive thank you to all the Year 6 families who have generously donated the food items.

What a beautiful way to celebrate our Fathers’! We extend our deepest thanks to the amazing mums in our school community who generously hosted our Fathers’ Day Breakfast. The spread of cookies, cakes, pizzas, fruit, right down to the specially wrapped Tim Tams, exemplified a feast made with love and care. Our Dads, grandfathers, carers and the special men in our students’ lives felt truly appreciated. Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese mourns the loss of former Executive Director of Schools Greg Whitby AM KSG. Diocese of Parramatta Bishop Vincent Long has shared a moving tribute to Greg here: https://catholicoutlook.org/vale-to-greg-whitby-am-former-executive-director-of-catholic-education/ Greg led our organisation, then known as Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta, from 2006 to 2022. He will be remembered fondly, including for his dedication to making a difference to the lives of children and young people across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains through education. Not only was Greg our leader, he was also one of our own: a graduate of St Monica's North Parramatta as well as a former Principal of Emmaus Catholic College Kemps Creek. A larger-than-life character, his championship of change and innovation was a source of inspiration. He leaves an extraordinary legacy of thought-leadership and advocacy that continues to serve Catholic schools in the Parramatta Diocese today. CSPD gives thanks for Greg’s life and leadership. He will be remembered for his courage, vision and passion, which will live on through the generations of educators he has inspired. We share our sincerest sympathies with Greg’s wife Sue, their children Matthew, Alexandra and Sophie, his grandchildren, and extended family at this very sad time. Eternal rest grant unto Greg, O Lord. May perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

What an adventurous day we’ve had! This morning, our school came alive with dragons, detectives, pirates, superheroes, and so many favourite storybook characters. From creative homemade outfits to much-loved store-bought costumes, the parade was bursting with colour and imagination. And yes, the staff costume reveal was absolutely worth the wait! The adventure didn’t stop there. At midday, the whole school joined in a giant scavenger hunt! Teams made up of students from across all grades raced around solving riddles and uncovering hidden locations. You might be thinking, “392 students running all over the school? Surely that’s chaos!” Well… yes, but it was the most joyful kind of chaos—filled with teamwork, laughter, and plenty of friendly competition. 🏆 Points Update: Elijah (Red): 2444 Gilroy (Blue): 2660 Mackillop (Green): 1798 McAuley (Gold): 2291 A huge thank you to our parents, carers, and staff who joined the fun and helped make Book Week such a memorable celebration. 📚💫
