This week we welcomed back our OLMC students after a period of online learning.
This has been a significant week, as for many of the students they have been away from school for nearly 8 weeks! On Friday the 29th May OLMC celebrated with a special return event. Students and teachers were able to dance the morning away with a special disco. Schools are just empty shells without students and boy did we miss them!!

During Religion lessons, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 learned about the Carmel Impact Water Project. They explored the importance of supporting the Carmelite communities of Raimea and Zumalai in Timor-Leste by helping to restore water tanks and pipes to provide clean and safe water for daily use. On Wednesday, students filled buckets and cups with water and took part in the Walk for Water Challenge. This fun yet powerful experience reminded us that our brothers and sisters in Timor-Leste must travel on foot every day just to access a basic necessity — fresh, clean water — something we often take for granted in our homes and at school. On Friday, students came dressed in Something Blue — a colour symbolising our prayers for hope and change for the people of Timor-Leste. These are the moments when we are truly called to be the hearts and hands of Christ, showing love, compassion, and generosity to others. The week concluded with a Mission Liturgy, led by our energetic Spirit Squad. Students participated reverently, and we thank each and every one of them for their thoughtful engagement and their love for others throughout the week.![763565872230263_1332082798711898-1]()

What a week it’s been! We kicked things off with Year 2 students helping to re-unite our community after the holiday break through prayer. Then, we celebrated a large number of students for their outstanding learning and positive learning dispositions. On Wednesday, we took part in the Walk for Water Challenge, which gave our students a deeper understanding of how fortunate we are to have easy, reliable access to clean water, without any worries. Today, we raise money to support our family in East Timor, where access to water is a constant struggle, DON'T FORGET TO WEAR BLUE CLOTHING AND DONATE VIA QKR

📢 Important Update: SOCIAL MEDIA BAN for Under-16s Starting December 10, new rules will come into effect that prohibit under-16s from creating or keeping accounts on age-restricted social media platforms. 🔒 Why this change? Research shows that being logged into social media accounts can increase exposure to pressures and risks, such as upsetting or manipulative content, due to how platforms are designed. These changes aim to give young people more time to build digital literacy, impulse control, critical thinking and resilience before entering these online spaces. 🧠 While many platforms currently set 13 as the minimum age, this shift to 16 is about providing more time for healthy development in a digital world. 👨👩👧👦 With just over two months to go, now is a great time to start conversations at home. Talk with your child about what this change means, how they feel about it and how you can support them.

As part of Year 5’s Reward Day last week, they decided to help those less fortunate than themselves. They spent the morning making over 60 sandwiches and 60 pieces of lemon slice, which will feed people in Parramatta tonight as part of the Jeremiah Project.

This term, in Religion, Year 6 have been learning about the relationship of prayer and their life. They have participated in numerous various prayer experiences throughout the term such as Visio Divina, Dadirri, Lectio Divina, Adoration, and the Examen Prayer. Students have expressed that one of their favourite experiences was the Dadirri, an ancient Aboriginal cultural practice of deep, quiet, inner listening and stillness. This meditation allowed students to appreciate God's creation and life and to have a moment of peace and serenity.

Year 6 have been learning about prayer this term. They have been especially learning about contemplation on action and action on contemplation. The Year 6 students had an encounter with the Franciscan Friars to learn about how both St Francis and Jesus prayed and served others. The Year 6 students then spent time to contemplate and to put their faith in action by packing breakfast packs for the homeless. A massive thank you to all the Year 6 families who have generously donated the food items.
