Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP) is partnering with Family Zone to roll out cyber safety to support students with their home learning.
The partnership aims to create a safe online learning environment for the students in its 80 schools. While CEDP already has filtering software to ensure cyber safety of students while they are at school, this initiative provides protection to students while they are learning from home on devices loaned from the schools. Parents also have the option to use the solution on the students’ personal devices at no cost. It is part of its response to the challenges presented by COVID-19.
“We are committed to delivering remote learning equitably and safely,” said Greg Whitby, Executive Director, Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta. “This partnership means a safer online learning environment for our students.”
Tim Levy, Managing Director of Family Zone said the company’s mission is to support schools and parents to keep children safe while they are online. “Cyber safety in education is really important. Schools have an obvious need to block inappropriate content. They also need to limit digital distractions which can compete for the student’s attention. This is of particular concern in remote learning situations,” he added.

We were delighted to welcome back our students, staff, and families this week and hope everyone enjoyed a joyful and blessed Easter. Our first assembly for the term was held over Zoom, where we celebrated the achievements of our Merit and Star Card recipients โ congratulations to all! As we commenced the month of May, dedicated to Mary, students were reminded that they are welcome to bring rosary beads in a pouch or zip-lock bag to school to join in prayerful reflection during this special month. This term, our Year 1 students have been learning all about different technologies and how theyโve changed over time through their History unit โPast and Present Family Lifeโ. ๐ฐ๏ธ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ WELL... on Tuesday, our curious learners got hands-on with a fun (and tasty!) activity โ they made something thatโs now found in every supermarket and fridge... BUTTER! ๐ง๐๐ฅถ There was lots of shaking... shaking... and even more shaking! ๐ซจ๐ช Our students discovered what it was like to make butter by hand โ just like people did in the past โ and reflected on how technology has made this process much easier today with the help of machines. ๐งโ๐ณโ๏ธ๐ And of course... we couldnโt let that butter go to waste โ fairy bread was definitely on the menu! ๐๐ง๐โจ

This week we thank Year 2Gold for leading us in prayer. Our student leaders prepared us for the final Project Compassion Focus of "Making a Sacrifice โ Give Up to Give Back" and we were encouraged to. ๐ซ Skip a treat like chocolate or chips and donate the savings. ๐ง Drink only water for the week and give what would have been spent on soft drinks or juice. ๐ต Limit screen time and instead spend that time helping at home, praying or reading Scripture. ๐ฎ Give up a favourite activity (like video games) and do something for others with that time. They reminded us that Lent is a time to deepen our faith, and one of the best ways to live our faith is to have compassion for those in need and to actively seek justice for those who need it most. We also congratulate the recipients of the many many awards that were handed out....What champions!
