On Thursday, 25th of July, OLMC celebrated NAIDOC week as a school community.

Julie and Josh, leaders from the Jarara Indigenous Team led the day, beginning with a smoking ceremony to cleanse our environment and promote wellbeing for semester two. Students were absolutely captivated with the ceremony, as were teachers and family members.

They then shared Indigenous culture and history with all our grades through artifacts, language, stories, movement and art. Some of the topics students explored were tools & technologies, songlines, symbolism and dreamings, The Stolen Generation, reconciliation and NAIDOC.

We would like to sincerely thank the Jarara Indigenous Team for providing our community with such a wonderful experience and look forward to working in partnership with them in the near future.

๐ŸŽจ Colour House Day โ€“ Term 2 ๐ŸŽจ We began Term 2 by coming together as a school community to celebrate the joy and hope of Easter through our Colour House Day. The day began with a special assembly where we shared the Easter story, reminding us that Jesus is alive and continues to walk with us each day. It was wonderful to see our parents and students engaged in this message of hope and new life. Students then gathered in their Colour House groups, led by our Year 6 Colour House leaders, to learn more about their patrons and take part in a range of team-building and collaborative activities. From getting to know one another to working together, there was a strong sense of connection, belonging and house spirit throughout the day. Dressed in their house colours, students proudly celebrated their identity within our school community, while also reflecting on how we are called to live out our faith through action โ€” supporting one another and building positive relationships. A big thank you to our staff and student leaders for making the day such a meaningful and enjoyable experience for all. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’š

Almighty everlasting God, who sent your Son to die that we might live, grant, we pray, eternal rest to those who gave themselves in service and sacrifice for their country. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Collect Prayer for Anzac Day, Roman Missal)
