OLMC community celebrates Indigenous cultural immersion

On Thursday, 25th of July,  OLMC celebrated NAIDOC week as a school community. Julie and Josh, leaders from the Jarara Indigenous Team led the day, beginning with a smoking ceremony to cleanse our environment and promote wellbeing for semester two. Students were absolutely captivated with the ceremony, as were teachers and family members. They then shared Indigenous culture and history with all our grades through artifacts, language, stories, movement and art. Some of the topics students explored were tools & technologies, songlines, symbolism and dreamings, The Stolen Generation, reconciliation and NAIDOC.

We would like to sincerely thank the Jarara Indigenous Team for providing our community with such a wonderful experience and look forward to working in partnership with them in the near future.
